Please, do not be disheartened or afraid to pursue what you want to do because of what you’ve seen. We take chances with this kind of thing in order to experience the good in it.
I knew going into this entire journey that, just with the way life goes and these paths play out, if I got lucky enough to go the distance with it by any big measure, I would be risking the classic dangers of it:
- Mudslinging by viewers
- Drama with peers
- “You’ve changed” accusations
The thing is, my friend, that these are the possible (and I do mean possible, not probable) dangers we face along the way. It’s just how the road goes: the further along you get, the more you wonder how long you have until you hit traffic or something happens to the car.
But it doesn’t have to happen. It can, and that comes with the territory, but it doesn’t have to.
And you’ll never get to experience the good of the journey if you don’t brave the possible bad things that go with it.
So, don’t be afraid. If you love this, embrace it. Do what you wish to do and just be the best person you can along the way. If you make mistakes, recognize them, atone for them, learn from them.
And if people don’t want to forgive you or continue to hate and berate you if atone, realize that it’s not just you who’s dealing with it–there’s going to be many more people who end up blacklisted by that individual, and it was probably a long list by the time your name was added. You don’t win arguments with brick walls.
Guts over fear, baby. If you mean it, you will make it, and you’ll be happy you took the chance.
